Social psych short paper
From your Syllabus – HW #3: Reference List & Research Article Analysis (60 Pts):
Students will learn how to search for peer-reviewed research on a Social Psychology related topic and identify a list of related references in APA format, followed by a written summary and analysis of one of the 3 chosen research articles. This short 3-5 page research/writing assignment is in lieu of a traditional full-length research paper while still providing an opportunity to practice research, reading, critical thinking, and writing skills. About this assignment: The basic components of this assignment are described in four parts (A through D):
A. Topic Selection
You may choose ANY social psychological topic or concept that you would like to
investigate further that is discussed in Chapters 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6 of your textbook.
Think about the topic/area of interest and a possible research question or line of inquiry
that you would like to learn more about. This will help guide your literature search.
In your paper, please write a brief paragraph identifying your chosen topic, including
definitions of any concepts that you will examining. Please specify the research question or
line of inquiry that you are interested in learning more about, including how it relates to
social psychology and why it is important.
B. Literature Search
Once you have chosen a specific topic/area, you will conduct a literature search using the
library research database(s) (such as PsycINFO or PsycARTICLES).
Identify three (3) peer-reviewed journal articles that relate specifically to your chosen
topic.
Reference the Library Research Guide linked on the Syllabus tab for more information
about searching for articles in databases. The direct link for this site is:

In order to conduct your search, you will need to identify the key words or phrases that
you will use to search for your articles. These key words will be based on the topic that you
have chosen and the research question of interest.
